My Training

Traditional training

My traditional training started back in 2001 while I was working as a Comic Book Artist in Irvine, California, for Marvel, DC, Image Comics, Top Cow Productions, Todd Mc Farlance Studios. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the best Artists, on various titles including, Spiderman, Deadpool, WitchBlade, The Darkness, Curse of the Spawn, and many other titles. This was the foundation for me as an artist. Now I wanted to get into film production as a Concept Artist and started teaching my self digital painting and invested into Photoshop and a Wacom

Film Industry

I’ve started my Feature Film career in 2003 at Digital Domain as a Concept Artist. This was my first professional title as I’ve had no prior film experience, but quickly advanced in both the techniques of photo realistic concept art, matte paintings, and 3d modeling using Maya

At Digital Domain working as a Concept Artist, I’ve had the opportunity to design various sequences for “The Day After Tomorrow” feature film, including the tornado scene going through Los Angeles.

I left Digital Domain to join“Illusion Arts” where CEO Mr. Syd Dutton offered me a full-time position, and I’ve worked and studied under him for a couple of years on various Feature Film Projects as a Matte Painter

“Thank you Mr. Syd Dutton for having shared your knowledge, which helped me advance in my career as both a Concept Artist and Matte Painter

Some of his oil paintings I’ve personally studied for months. Seeing them in person was magical! Hard to believe how such realism could be possible to achieve, especially when these are all painted by hand.

After that I’ve continued working as a Concept Artist/Matte Painter and also provided work for various VFX Studios as a VFX Art Director for Visual Development

MY EXPERIENCE

Over the years I have both worked freelance and full-time for a variety of Game Publishers providing both 2D/3D concept art, and matte painting related works. I am currently working in the Game Industry as a Lead Concept Artist on AAA Game titles.

I have a solid understanding of both the 2D and 3D production pipelines and the technical challenges of Game development. I use Unreal 4, Maya, Zbrush, World Builder, Embergen, Substance Painter,  for all my visual development creations.

I am also a UE4 Generalist and I am comfortable building block-out models, and levels in the Unreal Engine 4 for pre-production and do paint overs of the block-out CG environments from any camera angle to create both pre-production and/or final concepts for photo-real quality production and marketing Keyart
